What You will Need

To complete the online process, you will need to upload the following documents:

  • A copy of your passport (and visa if you have one)
  • Your photo
  • Your last school report
  • Insurance certificate and policy details in English (if you are booking your own)

Application

Once your application is submitted it will be reviewed within 48 hours. We will contact you or your agent directly with the next steps.

Acceptance and Visa

Once accepted, we will send you a letter with an Offer of Place and an invoice, which can be used to start your visa application process, if required.

Once payment is received, we will issue a receipt and a Confirmed Offer of Place to help you finalise your visa application. You will need to book a return flight to secure a visa.

Thank you for choosing our school. We are excited to welcome you to our community and look forward to meeting you soon. To help you prepare for your journey and ensure a smooth transition, here is some important information about what to bring, what to expect upon arrival in New Zealand, and your first days at school.

What to Bring:

  • Passport and Visa: Ensure your passport is valid and that you have a current visa to study in New Zealand.
  • Insurance: Carry your travel and medical insurance policy documents with you.
  • Return Ticket: Have your return airline ticket ready.
  • Medications: Bring any necessary medications and their prescriptions.
  • Electronics: Don’t forget your laptop, mobile phone, and proof of purchase/receipts for these items. Bring an adapter plug suitable for New Zealand’s electrical outlets.
  • Personal Items and Clothes: Pack clothes appropriate for New Zealand’s variable climate, and any personal items you might need.
  • Spending Money: Bring some local currency, but avoid carrying large amounts of cash.

Arrival in New Zealand:

  • Flight Details: Please inform us of your flight and arrival details so that we can arrange for someone to meet you at Auckland Airport.
  • Pack Your Own Bags: Do not carry items for other people, and ensure you pack your bags yourself.
  • Arrival Process: Upon arrival, you will need to complete a Passenger Arrival Card. Declare all food items, even if they are packaged, as fresh food is not allowed into New Zealand.
  • Customs and Immigration: You will pass through Passport Control, Baggage Claim, and Customs before meeting our representative, who will be waiting with a sign bearing your name.
  • Getting to Your New Home: After meeting our representative, you will be taken to your homestay or accommodation. If you encounter any issues, such as not finding your name on a sign, please contact our 24-hour International Students phone line at 027 463 0267.

First Days of School:

  • Arrival Before School Starts: Arrive a few days before school begins to recover from jet lag and get acclimated.
  • Orientation: We hold an orientation for all new students, where you will meet your "buddy" – a fellow student who will help you settle in during your first days.
  • Uniform: If you are in Years 9 to 13, you will be required to wear a school uniform.
  • English Assessment: Your English proficiency will be assessed to determine the most suitable class for you.

Your School Programme:

  • Subject Selection: You will choose your subjects and receive your timetable, with five classes per day.
  • School Hours: School starts at 8:45 AM and ends at 3:10 PM.
  • Lunch: Your homestay family will provide lunch, or you can purchase it at the school shop.
  • Attendance: If you are late or absent, your homestay family must notify the school. If you feel unwell during the day, visit the school nurse.
  • Extracurricular Activities: We offer a wide range of sports and cultural activities. Joining a club or team is a great way to meet new people and fully experience school life.

Local Area Information:

  • Location: Rosehill College is about a 35-minute drive from Auckland CBD and 15 minutes from Auckland Airport. The area is quiet, with parks, beaches, and good transport links to the city centre.
  • Shopping and Facilities: Nearby amenities include Papakura Shopping Centre, Manukau Shopping Mall, and Sylvia Park. Bruce Pulman Park and a local swimming pool complex are also close by.
  • Climate: The weather is moderate, with summer temperatures reaching 27°C and winter temperatures around 12°C. It can be wet in winter, so pack warm clothes.

General Information:

  • Legal Age for Smoking and Drinking: It is illegal to smoke or vape under 18 years, and to drink alcohol under 18 years in New Zealand.
  • Emergency Number: For ambulance, police, or fire emergencies, dial 111.
  • Healthcare: If you need to see a doctor, you will need to pay upfront but can claim the cost through your insurance.
